Suzanne Andresen lives in West Bath with her husband of 28 years, Scott Andresen, and their son, Tyler.
She entered the political arena at the request of the Town of West Bath, Maine. Her husband, Scott, came home from the Town Hall after registering their car with a Select Board petition and three of the twenty-five signatures already included, supporting her consideration to run for office. She is now in her second term and has helped her community address pertinent issues supporting the residents of West Bath and surrounding area.
Suzanne has been immersed in the Real Estate industry and is President and Chief Revenue Officer for REI INK magazine. She started selling real estate from her dorm room in college in 1987, which started her housing focus, and she understands the market trends and needs for housing initiatives both in Maine and across the country. This experience has helped build her housing industry foundation and connects her with national investors, encouraging them to consider Maine for development of housing solutions supporting the workforce arena. Currently she is in discussion with two investors who are looking at the local markets supporting District 24 for the State of Maine, considering a 250-500 unit housing project with lower rents helping provide housing solutions for all.
Suzanne also has a passion for our older Maine residents.
She was an integral part of the development of Avita of Brunswick, located in the Brunswick Landing Business Park. She took the plot plan to Northbridge Communities at their Headquarters in Massachusetts to share the needs of a Dementia Care Facility for the area, while showing the business opportunity and tax benefits available to new development on the old Navy base. Selfishly, this was to bring her mother up from the Avita of Westbrook, Maine facility closer to her home so she could visit more frequently while also supporting her family and son, Tyler. Additionally, she was a uniformed Boy Scout Leader for 11 years, working with kiddos from First Grade to High School age, watching them learn important skills in all aspects of life helping them develop their personal goals and achievements.
Maine has some of the oldest population in the country, and Suzanne is focused on supporting their aging-in-place needs for both housing and health care initiatives. Currently, there is a provider tax of 6% charged to residents of the dementia facility. She plans to help eliminate this tax on a necessary health and housing need to protect our Maine families who are on fixed incomes at this stage of their life. She is equally focused on food insecurities and is in communication with a local grocery store to present a weekly cooking class on how to prepare a meal for a family of 4 for around $12, utilizing the protein on sale in the weekly circular.
